Give Money to the Library

Your gift of money is always welcome at the Library. We have various programs to suit your giving needs. A gift to the library is a nice way to commemorate a person, a birthday or other special event.

Checks may be made out to:

  1. The Friends of the Elgin Library
  • Gifts to the Friends go directly for the purchase of new books and other media in the library. They will not go toward operating costs.
2.  The Elgin Public Library
  • Gifts made directly to the Library will be put in the general library budget, the majority of which would include general operating costs.

Types of Gifts:

  • Memorials:  You may designate what you wish the memorial to go toward, or you may leave that up to the staff and board to decide.  All memorials are designated with a book plate or other designation so that others may see those who are honored.

  • Honorariums:  Donations to the library make wonderful gifts in honor of special events such as anniversaries, retirements, and other special occasions.

  • The Birthday Book Club:  Honor your special person's birthday with a birthday book!  A special book plate will be placed inside, the birthday guy or gal will be the first to check it out, and their name (and optional picture) will be placed on our birthday bulletin board and in the Elgin Echo newspaper.
  • Special Programs:  Want to give a donation to a particular program at the library?  You can tell us where you'd like the funds to go.
  1. Story Hour
  2. Summer Reading Program
  3. Tutoring Program
  4. After School Program

We greatly appreciate your gifts and donations!
Our library would not be what it is without them.
